Now that the winter season is approaching, those who once chose to conduct their workouts outside need to start considering warmer options.
As a UAlbany student there are a number of different facilities both on and off campus which one can choose.
On-Campus Options:
-The Racc (Recreation and Convocation Center), located in the SEFCU Arena, provides students with an indoor track, four racquetball courts, and a fitness center. The equipment is somewhat limited but the admission is free, convenience is incomparable, and the hours are accommodating.
-Empire Fitness Center, located in the front and center building, which also houses the mail center in Empire commons, is a newer facility with much of the same perks as the Racc though seems to be a quieter option for students.
-Quad Fitness Centers, these can be found in any of the four residential quads up-town and also in Alumni Quad downtown. These facilities are much smaller but the convenience in location makes it a plausible option. Plus it's completely free of charge!
Off-Campus Options:
-Planet Fitness is a popular gym located just minutes from campus. It is open 24 hours with the exception to weekends and has minimal monthly fees. Promotions are constantly held with incentives to join and its well-known judgment free zone provides a comfortable area for everyone to workout.
-Best Fitness is located right on Central Avenue. Its hours are more restricting though it stays open everyday except for Christmas. It offers a cardio theater, juice bar, personal training options, and tanning. As of right now one can join this gym for a cost 24 dollars monthly.
-Golds Gym located on Western Avenue provides a vast amount of up-to-date equipment along with daily hours till 11 p.m. The monthly membership fee is more expensive than the others, though the classes and training options it has are much more elaborate.
-Bally Total Fitness is strategically placed right inside of Crossgates Mall. It is a two-floor facility that holds classes from Pilates to Martial Arts. Its monthly fee is constantly changing due to new promotions but the motivational atmosphere remains the same.
