For people afflicted with celiac disease or an allergy to wheat products, a gluten-free diet is essential to maintain their health. Gluten-free diets are completely free of wheat, grains, barley or anything containing gluten.

This obviously cuts out beer, as it is brewed from hops and wheat. Fortunately over the past couple of years, gluten-free diets have expanded and more products are appearing on the market, including gluten-free beers.

Here is a list compiled of popular gluten-free beers:

-Fine Ale Club: Against the Grain

-Green's: Discovery

-Green's: Explorer

-Green's: Herald

-Green's: Pioneer

-Hambleton: GFL

-Lakefront: New Grist

-O'Brien: Premium Lager

-Ramapo Valley Brewery: Passover Honey Beer

-Redbridge

These beers come off of a site called http://www.glutenfreebeerfestival.com/. The site lists all a gluten-free dieter would want to know about their beer drinking needs. It is difficult to find places that sell these beers, but Wolff's Biergarten in Albany has several of these gluten-free beers at their bar. There is definitely hope for gluten-free diets yet.
