Five Minutes and Five Questions with Christopher Morgan
Melissa Brabham
Christopher Morgan is a 22-year old junior at the Univeristy at Albany. He has been smoking since he was 15-years old but maintains that he is not addicted to cigarettes. I interview him for 5-minutes and this is the transcirpt.
Q: If you had to choose whether to be addicted to cigarettes or caffeine, which one would you choose and why?
A: I would smoke, because I smoke now.
Q: Does it bother you that you carry the smell of smoke on your clothes?
A: I don't notice it. When I smell other people who smoke it grosses me out, which is weird because I smoke and probably smell the same way.
Q: If you are aware that you smell like smoke and it grosses you out why don't you quit.
A: Well I smoke everyday but it's not like I'm addicted and have to smoke. When I'm stressed or going out like I told you, I smoke. After I shower I don't smell anymore.
Q: But you said you cannot smell yourself. So how does that work?
A: [no answer he just laughs]
Q: Last question. What is your biggest concern about you addiction?
A: I'm not addicted. But I don't want my teeth to turn all yellow. After I smoke I brush them like crazy so they don't get nasty and rotten looking like some girls I know. [laughs]
