The Master Debaters
Can we get a debate/opinion section?

Issue date: 11/10/08 Section: Presidential debate
The great debate.
Will not be seen tonight. So we can bring you…
Rantings and ravings about CNN.
The information you are about to be told will get me on double secret probation for divulging.
Most journalists hate the media.
Not just the media per say but any corporate news channel. Some of us consider this an art, while others do if for the filthy tax dollars. Some of us are citizen journalists… Or writers that think critically, the choice is yours. Yet I do not think that those of us falling into that category desire to be talking heads, or iReporters. (I just blew vegetable soup and tuna melt all over my Dell.)
Tonight, before and after the second Presidential debates, CNN parades out these iReporters to… Well… I actually don't know.If these, self described, bloggers are so good why don't you have them on staff? Why are they merely bloggers? Do they have degrees? Were they journalists before they were bloggers, or did they have just nothing better to do? Did they cover the dogfight between Nixon and JFK? Hell, how about the heist that got us into this mess in the first place, Bush vs Gore? Even one CNN political analysit said that she hadn't seen the Nixon/JFK debates because she hadn't been born yet. That is no bloody excuse. Google it.
CNN then takes some, very well screened, calls from two "undecided" voters. Would it surprise you that one happened to lean toward McCain and the other Obama? Would it surprise you, too, that the Obama supporter was a middle aged white woman and the McCain supporter was a 20 year old college student, also white and female? Both were reciting the same rhetoric as the candidates.
And the rhetoric was in full swing. Though it was a debate, not once during the pre or post show was there mention of recently published Nation article by Sydeny Schanberg in which McCain's real POW stance is seen. Nor is there mention of Obama (and Biden) being for that Bridge to Nowhere too. And for the economy? The two could only offer their plans for a different form for another economic stimulus.
