Joe "the plumber" Wurzelbacher was another hot topic in the final presidential debate. Joe the plumber originally questioned Obama on his small business tax policy on a campaign stop in Ohio. Obama's proposed tax increase scared Wurzelbacher, who was interested in buying a small business.
McCain attempted to make a personal connection with Joe the plumber, saying, "Senator Obama will raise your taxes Joe." Because of this, Wurzelbacher became a household name in the U.S. Ean McDermott thought that this was one of McCain's high points.
"I think that worked for McCain. Undecided's who don't really listen could definitely be swayed by that. Obama didn't do a great job of reminding the audience that this "Joe the plumber" would have to be making $250,000 for any of the things McCain was saying to be true. I wish Obama would have said "What plumber makes $250,000? But he didn't."
The debate was brought to an end with an emotional subject: Roe v. Wade. Kyle McDermott,30, a registered independent voting for Obama, thought this was Obama's "slam-dunk" moment.
"The slam dunk of the night was the fact that the last debate before the election was brought nearly to an end discussing Roe vs. Wade. America is the land of the free...and that leads everyone to make a choice that they want. The fact that [McCain] would hold it against an appointed Supreme Court judge based on his religion doesn't represent freedom the way the American people see it."
