While doing international research in the government documents sections of the University Library at the State University at Albany, I came across some interesting economic information software.
The Regional Economic Information System (REIS) for 1969-2006 was released in May of 2008.
It is a compilation disk of the single top economic figures for all of the United States.
The States are broken into counties and the United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis provides individual components of income and employment.
When mastered, your software triumphs in its mission to supply accurate and useful data for each states county.
This program is highly interactive and extremly informative. By using the QuickREIS feature of the diskette you can access hundreds of specific databases spanning over thirty-three years.
Allow me to provide a few fast examples as I have the program open now, as I type.
In Cortland County,N.Y. in 2001 there were 652 Arts, Entertainment and recreation employment positions. That number increased by 131 to 783 full-time and part-time jobs by 2006.
In contrast, Dutchess County, N.Y. had 4,191 full and part-time arts, entertainment, and recreation positions in 2006.
Here is one last example before this this very fast, very simple program is shut down for now.
In 2006, Tioga County, N.Y. had a per capita personal income (PCPI) of $29,297. This PCPI was 37/62 in New York State and was 80 percent of the national average.
To show how Tioga County, N.Y. compares to other counties nationally, here are five more per-capita personal incomes (PCPI) in American dollars.
Bibb County, Alabama: $22,367
Honolulu, Hawaii: $39,653
Jefferson County, Pennsylvania: $27,339
Tulare County, California: $24,153
Estill County, Kentucky: $19,570
This is a fantastic program for gathering state personal income and other stock state specific material with ease.
