Store manager Heather Coene of Paradise Natural Foods says her customers are mainly looking for gluten-free products. Therefore the store's gluten-free products sell the best. Coene mentions that around 15 to 20 percent of her sales are from health and beauty aids. The second best seller in the store would be vitamins. The store gives its senior citizens a 10% discount everyday on vitamins.

The store, located at 1475 Western Ave in Albany, has been owned by its current owner Bill Creighton for 30 years. If you can't find what you are looking for at Paradise Natural Foods, Creighton promises they will order it for you.

Although Paradise Natural Foods has more to offer with their health and beauty aids, supplements, vitamins, and organic food, they also have a diverse selection of green cleaning products.

They carry Earth Friendly Products, Ecover,and Planet brand cleaning supplies. These products are biodegradable, not tested on animals, environmentally friendly,and non-toxic.

Another popular green store in Albany is the Honest Weight Food Co-op, located at 484 Central Ave. The store has been around for 32 years. It doesn't have a president or a CEO,but rather is owned by its members and shareholders. Education coordinator, Karisa Centanni states that each customer has to by a share of at least $100 to become a member. The store has 5,000 shareholders. The store is also operated by its members.

Honest Weight Food Co-op also offers its members a chance to receive a discount on purchases with their working member program. For three hours of labor done in the store a member gets a 10% discount.

Although the store is expanding to a new location they will still only have one location. Their goal is not to have more stores they only want to be a single location grocery store. This new location will allow them to have more space and a larger parking area.

Honest Weight Food Co-op also has a large variety of cleaning products in its cleaning section with a few more products than Natural Paradise because of course it is three times the size.

Honest Weight Food Co-op customer, Joe Stevens has been coming to the store for 10 years. "The highest level of organics can be found here," says Stevens.

"Paradise Natural has a more limited selection of cleaning products but is good," Stevens said.

As Stevens browses through the cleaning product section he picks up an Ecover product then a Mrs. Meyer's. "Mrs. Meyer's is the best cleaning product out there," he confidently states with no hesitation.

Stevens has used all the products in the cleaning section, and he says Mrs. Meyer's is the best because the other products just don't have the cleaning power like it has.
