Girls are thought of as the ultimate shoppers. They are known to drink, eat, and sleep shopping, whereas guys hate the activity with a passion. Yet both sexes are generally dressed to impress when they go out in their everyday lives. The question is, what's more important to each side, in terms of fashion?

"When I have the money to spend on shopping it is like a true release, it can put me in a good mood no matter what," said Michelle Evangelista. Females have the stereotype of being completely driven by shopping. They are seen as typical subscribers to Cosmopolitan, Glamour and other fashion magazines who live their lives based on what their told is "in" or "out." But in recent decades men have caught up within the new phase, the metro-sexual. Men are now being marketed to through Maxim, GQ and by all their male icons on red carpets and in interviews.

There are still huge differences in what interests girls and guys about fashion. The topics of relevancy are very different among the genders. When focusing in on accessories that are purchased, girls are much more enthusiastic. "I live for earrings and belts, I feel as though they can really make or break an outfit," claimed Evangelista. "I don't really know what accessories are, I know that I can't go out unless my sneakers match what I'm wearing," said Sean Bass.

The frequency among shopping was varied among males and females. "I probably pick up at least one or two things a week, either when I get off of work or I'm killing time between shifts," explained Cheryl Thomas, server at Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse. "I have been known to just accompany my roommate to the mall if she has to get something. Window shopping is like fantasizing that someday these things can be yours. It makes you work harder."

"The only time I enter the mall is if I have to get something. I hate it there it is always so busy," complained Bass. "I get clothing a few times a year such as holidays and birthdays. I leave my fashion up to my mom and my older sister and it seems to have worked out for me."

"I love the way I dress, some of the guys make fun of me but all the girls compliment me, so now who is the idiot," said Ryan Judson. "I've been called a metro-sexual before, but I take it as a compliment." The appeal of clothing is very important to everyone but what they are willing to admit to is another. Guys are just very laid back about fashion and do not generally care to shop. Sure they care how they look, but are just not really into doing the actual shopping.
