Some of the Gyms around Albany are very popular among college students.
Bally Total Fitness (518) 869-0473
Bally Total Fitness is located in Crossgates Mall. They offer a four month college discount from May 1st to August 31st for $156. The membership includes any Total Bally Fitness Center. They have the latest brand-name equipment and a variety of group exercise classes; such as yoga, cycling, and kickboxing.
Fitness Factory (518) 453-3099
The Fitness Factory is located at 111 Wolf Road in Albany. It is full equipped with fitness machines. Personal trainers are around at all times if needed. It offers a wide variety of fitness classes such as Boot Camp, Kickboxing, Abs, Yoga, and more. The standard price per month for a college student is $35, but they do offer other package deals which can be checked out at their website.
Gold's Gym (518) 464-1500
Gold's Gym is located 2080 Western Ave in Albany. It offer's all of the latest equipment and services including, group exercise, personal training, cardiovascular equipment, spinning, Pilates and yoga, while it maintains its core weight lifting tradition. They offer a free day membership which can be obtained at the website.
Capital Region Tennis and Fitness (518) 436-3556
Capital Region Tennis and Fitness is located at 205 Southern Boulevard in Albany. The club has six indoor tennis courts, one practice court, locker rooms with saunas, a pro shop, an outdoor swimming pool (for Memorial Day through Labor Day) and a full service fitness center. There are different rates depending on what kind of membership you want; prices can be checked on the website.
University at Albany Recreation
The University at Albany's recreational buildings are located on the school campus. These buildings include the Physical Education building and the R.A.C.C. For students and faculty it's free to use the gym and pool all year round with proper identification.
The university also offers toning, kickboxing, sculpting, and water aerobic classes, which does cost money. The classes run from the end of May until July. To register for classes go to the R.A.C.C. Recreation sales office or call (518) 437-3739.
