Q: How many nights a week do you go out to the bars?
A: As a freshman I would go out 4, 5, or 6 nights a week. Now I feel that I've grown out of the downtown seen and only go out once or twice a week.
Q: What advice do you have for students in their first year of college?
A: So many students go wild their first year away from home because they don't have their parents around all the time, and they are able to do things they wouldn't do at home. While you may have a strong desire to go out partying every night just know that it really affects the way your future could turn out. Your first year make sure you have fun and meet a lot of people, but it is also the most important year to get your future on the right track.
Q: Would you take back your freshman year if you could?
A: I don't like to say I have regrets, but my sophomore year I felt like I was in a huge hole I couldn't get out of. I think I still would go out quite a bit, but just take a little more pride with my classes and schoolwork.
Q: When you go out what bars do you like to go to?
A: Cagney's is a good bar is you just want to sit and chill with your friends. But I like to go down to Sneaky Pete's if I'm really in the partying mood.
Q: How easy do you find it is to get into the bars and clubs in Albany?
A: Well, I'm 21 now, but when I was underage I noticed that the bars closer to the University would let anyone in if they had a semi-good ID. The further you go downtown the harder it is to get into a bar if you're not 21.
Q: Do you feel that Albany is a party school?
A: Definitely! I've been to other colleges and they don't go out half as much as the people I see up here. There is definitely a crazy amount of underage drinking and partying going on around campus, especially on freshman quads.
Q: If you don't go out to the bars at night what else is there to do in Albany?
A: I like to catch up on my sleep or go to Crossgates Mall and catch a movie. It's fun just chilling with friends too, or going to house parties instead of the paying cover charges at the bars all the time. It really saves you money on drinks too!
Q: Are you happy you chose UAlbany
A: Yes, I met a lot of great people here, and there is always plenty to do on campus and downtown. It's a good time at UA!
